This week...

OK, so I have been a slacker and I haven't taken any pictures this week (although it would have been the same...more scooter pictures...HA!). Anyway, here's a little run-down about our week.

On Sunday, Brett gave the scripture and prayer in primary for the first time. He wanted to say an article of faith, so he did the "We believe the Bible to be the word of God..." one. We thought he might end up singing it instead of saying it since he knows all the songs, but he got up there and said it so clearly into the microphone and then said his little prayer! He did a great job. He didn't even want us up there with him. He wanted Jace to hold his picture. Jace also had a talk and did a great job, as usual. He talked about how Nephi is his favorite person in the Book of Mormon and how he wants to be like Nephi. He wanted Matt to hold his pictures for him, so I just had to sit in the back and listen! It was kind of nice...

Late Monday night, I got a call from Mrs. Elliott (Brett's preschool teacher) asking if I could sub for her on Tuesday all day since her husband was in the ER. Of course I told her I would, so on Tuesday, I taught preschool in the morning and kindergarten in the afternoon. The kids were great and Brett did great, too. He just did what all the other kids were doing in Kinder! We had a good day, but I was exhausted by the time we made it home around 4:00 PM!

Last night I had YW, and then I hurried home to watch American Idol! DVR is the greatest invention ever! While I was watching that, I pulled out the newly refurbished laptop (THANKS, HONEY!) to learn how to run Google Sketch-Up. It's a 3D rendering program that I'm going to try to draw our house in so we can see what it's kind of going to look like. I took a couple of tutorials and then drew our dining room! Very cool...

We are meeting with our consultant today to go over our plans. We are very close to finishing the layout...just a few things we are tweaking and then we should be able to move forward with getting our full set up plans finished and ready for bidding!

Oh! The other cool thing I did yesterday was clean out the garage...I still need Matt's help for some things, but everything is organized and I can park in there again!!! WAHOOOO! That's it for now! I'll try to take some pictures soon...

Jace's Tooth and Brett Playing

Jace finally lost one of his top teeth. He lost his first 2 teeth last year (bottom front). Here he is proudly displaying it in and out of the tooth box before putting it under his pillow. He is so excited to have a "straw hole" AND he got to play the ogre in "Jack in the Bean Stalk" at school because he was missing a tooth just like the ogre in the story!

Chatting with Mom and Dad

I got to talk to Mom and Dad today. When I called them on Skype, they had some missionaries over to visit! So, I got to meet Elder Wall, Elder Minson and I can't remember the other one's name...they made faces at the boys over the camera and just being goofy in general. It was fun to see Mom and Dad in their element...taking care of young people!!! Dad said Mom couldn't wait to start having the missionaries over for dinner. They had a great time...

Visit from Matt's Family

Matt's mom, dad and sister came to visit this weekend. Although we talked about taking some pictures, we never did, so I have no photo documentation of their visit. We were excited to have them come stay with us at Mom and Dad's since they have their own room here! The boys were so excited that they came. Jace had a great time playing race tracks with Pop, and Brett liked cuddling on the couch with Lindsey. Grammy bought them 2 new movies (Air Buddies and Snow Buddies...Disney movies about puppies who can talk to each other), so they were set for a cold and wet weekend! Matt and I had a great time getting a babysitter and going out to dinner Saturday night with his family without the boys! We actually got to chat over a meal with them which we haven't done since before we had kids! We really enjoyed the visit and can't wait to do it again soon.

SOLD!

YIPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

WE SOLD THE HOUSE!!! We closed on Friday, and we are DONE. It was a lot of work getting everything moved and more work to find homes for things until we move again but we got it done! Thanks to everyone who helped advertise and everyone who helped us move out. We so appreciate your help!

Least favorite chore: Mopping, but I do it b/c I can’t stand it dirty!
Meal you cook most often: Tomato Soup (if you count heating canned soup on the stove as cooking)…my kids love it and request it often.

1. Watching them learn new things and excel at school

Favorite thing your husband does with your kids: Wrestles with them almost every night before bed, sings songs to them before bed

Last time you went out with no kids: With my husband, Saturday night (to the adult session of stake conference at church). Without my husband, today during preschool (to the store).

If you could take your kids anywhere where would it be: Right there with ya, Kat…DISNEY…preferably in the off-season (if there is one anymore).

Favorite pastime/activity with your kids: riding scooters, building blocks, playing games, swimming and loads of science experiments (volcanoes are our favorite)

One thing your mom did that you do now: Cut the crust off sandwiches and then cut them into 4 triangles

Best advice for a new mom: Have a schedule, but do it your own way…just be consistent

Scariest or most heart-breaking moment as a mom: Jace was 2 when he fell and hit his head on the corner of the coffee table. He hit right between his eyes, and it was so swollen that it looked like a marble was under the skin in between his eyes. It immediately turned black and red. He had a black eye for a long time.

Most joyful moment as a mom: Seeing Jace’s reaction the first few weeks Brett was around.

Rodeo Day for Brett

Today was Rodeo Day at Brett's preschool. They got to dress up (which the vest and hat didn't last very long), eat from the chuck wagon (chili and crackers), watch a frisbee show put on by Brett's teacher's son, Scott, and his dog, King, rope "bulls", and get a blue ribbon at the end. He had a great time and was a good sport to let me take his picture before school!

Riding Scooters

OK...giving up on the scooter video...I'll figure it out later. The boys love riding their scooters up and down the driveway at Grandma's (sorry, Dad, it's Grandma's house...Grandpa's backyard). Anyway, so I took a little video of them doing their thing...Jace got a scooter video for free (which we ordered WAY back in July when he got his scooter for his birthday) and it has footage of kids doing tricks on their scooters, so he is trying to be like them! Brett is doing his best to keep up...hopefully I'll get to post the video eventually, but until then here's some pics:



Oh, and Grandpa, Brett built a castle for the snails to live in our front in your flower bed...here's a picture of Jace with the "castle" made of rocks:

Fun times for the boys

The boys have been playing with the dishwasher box. Jace has designed a cool "basketball contraption" with it. When you make a basket, the ball hits the pillows and falls into the box where one of the boys is waiting. They throw it out the hole in the back and you can shoot again! So creative!

The BIG Move

So this weekend was eventful in that we moved most of the big furniture out of the house and into storage. I say "most" of the furniture b/c everything fit except the kitchen table (the chairs made it but not the table!). Anyway, it's all good b/c I'm planning to refinish the top of the table anyway, so I'll do that this spring since it will be here anyway (Heather, I'll be calling for some expertise!).

The worst thing was that at some point someone closed the door to the washing machine all the way, and if you are in my family, you know the trouble we have had with stuff growing in there and since it hasn't been used at all since before Christmas...WELL, Matt said it really smelled gross in there. SO for now the washer is in the garage at Grandma's for me to take apart and clean. YUCK! But everyting is out of the house now except for a few small things (OK, I still haven't packed my dishes, but I started today!)...Kat's good friend Angela is coming over tonight so that we can go back to the house to work some more. Man, I'll be glad when this is OVER!!! ONE MORE WEEEK!

We did make it through the inspection last week with only minor repairs that Matt completed over a couple days, and the appraisal happened this morning. Right now we are looking good to close on time! YAY!

In other news, we traded our couch for a foosball table this weekend, too! Ryan and Michelle (see Butthead pictures from last weekend) needed a couch and we needed something to put in our new game room once it is built, so we traded! We were already going to replace the couch and they were getting rid of the foosball so it worked out well. So, Grandma, for now, your dining room table is up against the wall to make room for a "game room"!
