First post of 2009

OK...if I don't start this right now, I'm not ever going to post anything this year! We have had so much happen since January started. Here's a small list of what we've been up to:

  • Beginning of January: the new house has walls...well sticks, at least! Check out the house blog for the latest - www.lasaterhouse.blogspot.com
  • Middle of January: Heather and Kade came to visit one last time before Carter arrives.
  • End of January: Jace gets a great report card.
  • Beginning of February: Jace participates in a PTA program for the 2nd graders.
  • Valentine's Day: I get some insulation from Matt for the house and he gets some labor hours from me to install it! My real present was a massage after working...
  • End of February: Brett gets a glowing report from Mrs. Elliott, his teacher. He's a sharp kid, but is sometimes a little loud...hmmmm...I never knew!

Now here we are almost into March...more updates and pictures to follow...

End of 2008!

I know it's been so long since I have posted. With the house and a new computer, it's been a difficult thing to blog. So this is my sign-out post for 2008...I've got to get going on '09 since it's already FEBRUARY!!!

2008 treated us pretty well. Our theme word this year would have to be "transition." We started out the year saying goodbye to Mom & Dad, selling our house and moving into their house temporarily. Jace went from hating school to loving it, Brett went from a talkative 3 year-old to a more talkative smarty pants 4-year old. Matt and I are both still in our same callings at church, Matt as 1st Counselor in the Stake Young Men and me as the Laurel Advisor in our ward. Most of our "spare" time is taken up with working on our new house which is up out of the ground and well on it's way to becoming our new home. The main goal our family accomplished this year was finishing the Book of Mormon together as a family. I'm really proud to say that we made it all the way...even the Isaiah parts!

As we look forward to 2009, we see us completing our new home, welcoming 2 new nephews, bringing Mom and Dad back home, planning a baptism, and starting out in a new ward, a new stake, and a new school to go with our new neighborhood. If I had to pick 1 word to describe what I think '09 will be like, it would have to be "change." With change comes new opportunities for lots of things, so hopefully our family can take a positive approach to change and do it with a happy attitude! Here's to a great new year!
